4/6/2020 Monday - The second week distance learning!
Good Morning! It is 9:18 and 15/18 students have signed in for today's attendance. We are really doing great with that. Thank you. I am very impressed with your children and the work they are doing. So much of this has been new for us. In the classroom we constantly talk about finding solutions to problems. That they can come up with many ideas on how to solve something instead of sitting there passively and saying they can't do something. I hope that you continue to encourage your child to problem solve. They can do it! What I really want to know from you as parents is, How are things going for you? Is the school load manageable for your child and situation right now? Please let me know. I am here to help in any way that I can. I am looking forward to hearing from you, Lori I am leaving my Friday 3/27 posting still attached in case you want to refer back to it at some point. 3/27/2020 It's Friday! Hello Everyone! Yesterday was device pickup day, and I am hopeful that you will all be able to log into your google account before Monday to make sure that you are able to get in. I know that many of you are anxious about how all of this will work, and what our days will look like. Because each home is very different at this time, I am going to make some suggestions on how your days "could" look, but I am really hoping that you will just gain a few ideas to help you create your own schedule. If your child is able to follow our classroom schedule, that may be helpful to create a routine. For example, Monday, March 30th is a Day 2. That means that we follow the schedule for Day 2 (See "Class Schedule" tab above) having PE with Mr. Johnson at 8:30 and Music at 9:00. I think doing those two classes throughout the day may help to break up the desk work time. Before Lunch we have Math. Setting a time to for Math and Reading everyday may be helpful. Our classroom schedule has Math in the Morning and Reading in the afternoon. Feel free to adjust as you need to. We also have our intervention times for Math and Reading, Social/Science/Health and Cursive. All of these subjects can be explored and done everyday! BUT - they will not ALL be assigned (listed and a RESPONSIBILITY) everyday. At school we have very full, complete days. That is not feasible for you at home. Parents - I need your help, but do not put the weight of being "the teacher" on your shoulders. I am here and will be every Monday-Friday from 8:00-4:00. I will be delivering math lessons through various video resources to teach students our new math topics. Ms. Koppy is currently working on creating the reading lessons for students to follow. I hope that this helps. :) If you have any questions, please send an email or call the room phone number (845-5349). It has been forwarded to my cell phone number. Ms. Koppy and I will be available during school hours. If you need to contact me on the weekend, I will respond if able. Otherwise I will get back to you as soon as I am able on the next school day. Talk soon, Ms. Koppy and Mrs. Habben |
